Marco is an attorney. He received his law degree from the University of Ferrara, Italy. For ICA, he focuses on all facets of the Italian “civil law” system, bringing his extraordinary and incomparable expertise in the fields of Italian and U.S. citizenship and immigration law. He speaks fluent English, Italian, and Spanish.

Prior to founding ICA, Marco worked in Milan and New York with law firms specializing in domestic and cross-border corporate transactions, commercial, intellectual property, immigration, and entertainment law matters. At ICA, Marco is responsible for assessing complicated citizenship cases, providing legal opinions, researching Italian records and for any other issues concerning the Italian citizenship law.

Marco now resides in Los Angeles.

FABRIZIO PERMUNIAN

Fabrizio is the co-founder of Italian Citizenship Assistance. Born in Rovigo, Italy, since 1990 he has been operating between Italy and the U.S. as a consultant for many large Italian companies. He is a businessman and a dynamic leader now living and residing in northern Italy. He has strong ties to his family and Italian heritage, which he believes are the cornerstones of his success as an international businessman. At ICA, he is responsible for account and business management.

ELENA BOTTON

ACCOUNTING AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

Elena graduated in 2017 in Economics from the University of Padua. She then obtained her master’s degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the same university. Her studies mainly focused on business administration and human resources management.

Elena also studied business engineering and operations management at the University of Ghent, Belgium, where she was trained to implement business solutions. She also attended the University of Bentley, Boston, where she enhanced her financial skills while developing her language skills.

At ICA Elena is responsible for administration and accounting, and human resources management.

Her duties include supervising, organizing and coordinating the administrative, accounting and financial departments of the company.

In her spare time, she volunteers for Protezione Civile (Civil Protection Department), which is the national body in Italy that deals with the prevention and management of emergency events. She is passionate about rhythmic gymnastics which is her favorite sport.

SARA BELLAN

Sara graduated in 2017 in Language, Civilization and Science of Language from Ca’ Foscari University in Venice. She then pursued a Master’s degree in European, American and Postcolonial Language and Literature at the same institution.
Her studies mainly focused on Russian, German and English language, culture and literature.
Sara also attended a course at Tula State University, in Russia, where she enhanced her language skills and developed an interest in the field of business administration.

At ICA, Sara’s duties include overseeing general office operations, reporting to senior management, keeping records, liaising with internal departments, and managing the accounting department. She also provides ICA’s Managing Director Marco Permunian with administrative support.

In her free time, Sara loves travelling, reading novels and cooking traditional Italian cakes.

She is fluent in Russian, German and English.

GIULIA TESSARIN

OFFICE MANAGER AND “CITIZENSHIP BY DESCENT” EXPERT

Giulia graduated in 2016 in Language, Civilization and Science of Language from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. She then obtained her Master’s degree in European, American and Postcolonial Language and Literature. Her studies had a main focus on the fields of English and Russian languages, cultures and literatures.

Giulia later attended Pushkin State Russian Language Institute in Moscow and the faculty of “Journalism and Mass Communication” at Saint Petersburg State University, where she approached and became acquainted with the concept of multiculturalism and developed her linguistic skills.

During her time abroad, she became interested in immigration law and dual citizenship.

As a part of ICA, she specializes in assisting clients from beginning to end with their Italian citizenship application process in the United States. To say that Giulia is passionate about the needs and goals of her clients is an understatement as she goes above and beyond expectations.

Her duties include scheduling appointments at Italian consulates for ICA clients, procuring and amending Italian, US and Canadian documents, preparing clients for their interviews at the Italian Consulates and preparing all the forms and documents needed to apply for Italian citizenship jure sanguinis (by descent).

Giulia is also an expert in genealogy research with extensive knowledge of how to use Italian and US genealogy websites and databases.

When she is not working, she loves travelling, literature and photography. She is a big fan of the Italian soccer team Juventus.

Giulia is fluent in Italian, English and Russian.

BROOKLYN LOCKE

LOS ANGELES OFFICE MANAGER AND CLIENT INTAKE

Brooke was born in California. She attended a school of fine Arts in Southern California where she become very talented in noticing art details that the average eye overlooks. She then graduated from college where she specialized in calculus and she developed an interest in business administration and finance.

Brooke’s eye for detail set her apart when she worked as a sales consultant for a well-known accounting firm. Her interest in Italian law, and citizenship law more specifically, began when she was introduced to the Italian community in Little Italy, San Diego, where she learned about Italian culture and history. She also witnessed a strong feeling of community there, as well as its members’ desire to preserve their ties with their motherland.

After helping a friend retrieve all the legal paperwork from the US which was needed to apply for Italian citizenship, and after learning about all the intricacies of the application process, she decided to join ICA together with her sister and help other American citizens prepare their citizenship applications. In particular, Brooke oversees ICA’s office in LA and she is charge of managing the mail room and the finance department. Brooke is known to ensure that all of ICA’s operations run smoothly and efficiently. Brooke is also in charge of client intake.

Brooke enjoys traveling and going on road trips across the US. In her free time she enjoys painting, studying photography and visiting botanical gardens.

CLAUDIA BERTO

OFFICE MANAGER AND PROFESSIONAL GENEALOGIST

Claudia majored in foreign languages at the University of Padua in 2015. She is well-equipped to handle highly difficult situations and execute detail-oriented follow through. Her dedication to our the needs of both our company and clients is tireless and incomparable. On a day-to-day basis, Claudia oversees all of ICA’s clients and acts as a liaison between the Italian and US offices. At ICA, she is responsible for genealogy research and business management. She is also a professional genealogical researcher specializing in Italian vital records.

Claudia is fluent in Italian, English and Russian.

PAIGE VANN

Paige was born in California. Her love for Italian culture began when she spent time in San Francisco, particularly in the North Beach neighborhood (or ‘Little Italy’), where she worked as a business development associate for a well-known Italian restaurant chain. In particular, thanks to this experience she learned more about American-Italian culture and heritage and how it has survived so many generations. However, it was her encounter with Marco Permunian which spurred her interest in pursuing a carrier in dual citizenship law.

At ICA, Paige works with her twin sister Brooke in ensuring that all operations run as smoothly and as efficiently as possible. In particular, Paige coordinates activities among the offices in the US which are responsible for providing ICA’s clients with the vital records and legal paperwork needed to apply for Italian citizenship by descent.

Paige prides herself in providing quality work for her clients and delivering above and beyond what they need. Paige also manages ICA’s social media accounts and oversees ICA’s marketing strategies.

In her free time Paige spends time with her two daughters and her sister thrift shopping, hiking or painting. She also very passionate about antiques.

RAFAEL DIFURIA

CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER & CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Rafael Di Furia is an Italian-American who grew up with a strong sense of pride in his Italian heritage. Rafael successfully completed his own Jure Sanguinis process in 2017. Shortly after his recognition, he relocated to Italy to live out his dream of returning  to the county where his last name originated.

Before moving to Italy, Rafael worked in television as the director of an international news show and has also worked in broadcast, production, marketing and strategy. His clientele range from individuals, musicians to politicians and beyond. He has worked on projects for startups and established companies as well as projects involving bodies such as the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office and their Ministry of Immigration and Integration. Rafael has become an invaluable part of the ICA team due to his particular skill set and personal history. Rafael’s life experience has shaped his unique perspective due to his having lived in a number of countries as well working with individuals and businesses from around the world. His understanding of Italian dual citizenship via Jure Sanguinis, international relocation and cross-cultural experiences continuously prove to be a great asset in addition to his professional expertise.

We began working with Rafael as a marketing advisor and writer for our blog. Our relationship with him has evolved into his now overseeing all of our  marketing, strategization, communications and content creation efforts. He is also an integral part of the overall production of our podcast, The Italian Citizenship Podcast, that he also co-hosts with our lead attorney Marco Permunian.

He devotes his spare time to a travel video series and video podcast series called Not Your Average Globetrotter, where he often discusses topics related to life as a dual citizen expat and how to navigate living abroad. He focuses on creating informational content to help others with the transition and processes involved with dual citizenship, life in Italy, living abroad and updates on what is going on in Italy with his online community/audience. His approach prioritizes a balance of sharing both the beauty and realities of life abroad.

CARLO DAL MARTELLO

P.R. & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER 

Carlo is a very eclectic and dynamic Italian businessman, currently living in Rovigo, Italy. He joins the ICA Team as an international strategist focusing on global relations. For the past 25 years, Carlo has overseen brand management strategies and international positioning for many large Italian companies.

At ICA, Carlo is the P.R. & Communications Manager responsible for planning and directing our newsletter, as well as providing entertaining content on Italian dual citizenship on our social media pages and website. Thanks to his excellent communication skills both oral and written, Carlo’s specialty is keeping ICA’s clients up to date with the latest news on Italian citizenship.

Carlo is fluent in Italian and English.

JANINE CALABRO

Janine was born and raised in Southern California. She attended The Academy of Art in San Francisco where she studied Art History and Graphic Design. Her true passion is Fine Arts and she has always shared a strong interest in genealogy/ancestry as well as multiculturalism. She later traveled to Europe and became even more enthralled with art history as well as learning about her own heritage.

Janine has previous experience in Human Resources as well as office administration and accounting. At ICA, Janine coordinates activities among the offices that are responsible for issuing clients’ vital records. In particular, she overseas the team which prepares and reviews all of the requests to retrieve certified copies of vital records and to authenticate them with Apostilles for use in Italy. Janine also ensures that all of our clients’ paperwork is filed adequately and she manages the accounting department.

Janine prides herself in providing ICA’s clients with the best services and in ensuring that all of ICA’s operations in the office in Los Angeles run smoothly.

In her spare time, Janine enjoys painting, hiking, travelling and she is passionate about photography and videography.

MARTINA BOTTON

Martina has a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from the IUAV University of Venice. Her dissertation on feminist city planning earned a distinction. Martina also has qualifications in business management and finance.

Martina has a keen interest in exploring diverse cultures and places, which has led her to engage in various international experiences. Martina has participated in language and cultural exchange programs in Argentina and Spain.

Martina undertakes many tasks in the accounting and administrative departments of ICA. These duties allow her to apply her knowledge and skills in business administration and operations management.

Martina is fluent in Italian, English and Spanish, and is also proficient in Catalan.

GIULIA ZANIRATO

Giulia graduated from the University of Padua with a bachelor’s degree in economic law.  As part of her degree, Giulia also completed a course in foreign trade, and an exchange program at the University of Valencia in Spain.

Giulia’s work experience in foreign trade, both in Italy and abroad, makes her valuable member of the ICA team. Giulia’s expertise in this field means she provides excellent assistance to our clients, and she plays a central role in coordinating the arrival and departure of our clients who decide to file their citizenship applications directly in Italy.

Giulia is also responsible for ICA clients’ property management: she utilizes her expertise in the local real estate market to assist clients in finding property to be used for their residency application and helps them to set up and pay utilities.

Giulia’s dedication and knowledge contribute to the optimum service ICA provides, ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of support throughout their journey to becoming Italian citizens.

SOFIA GALLANA

Sofia is a member of the human resources department at ICA. Her professional journey began at Alma Mater Studiorum in Bologna, where she pursued her bachelor’s degree in political, social, and international science.

Sofia performs multiple duties within HR. She assists the administrative department, helping to organize and ensure a smooth operation of all tasks. She is also involved in the process of selecting new employees to create a collaborative team.

In her free time, Sofia enjoys travel and going to the cinema.
