Marco Permunian, the founder of Italian Citizenship Assistance is an Italian born attorney raised in Rovigo, in the Veneto region of Italy. At the age of 18, Marco became the big brother to a 7-year-old foster sister who had immigrated from Lithuania who then petitioned to become an Italian citizen. It was then that Marco became aware of the practical implications of immigration law and how it has a very direct effect on the lives of individuals and their families. He became interested and fascinated with international law, family law, Italian citizenship law and cross border relations.
Marco received his law degree from the University of Ferrara, a historic school that is over 600 years old. After graduation, Marco worked with an Italian-American law firm in New York City that specialized in cross border negotiations and real estate acquisition with a focus on assisting Italians and other European citizens with their matters in the US. During his time in New York was when he first became introduced to the Italian-American community and saw first-hand how Italian culture had survived so many generations in a faraway foreign land. As he got to know more and more people of Italian descent, Marco saw the passion and love that many have for a motherland they only have known though the stories and accounts of their family members who had left years or generations before they were born. Being a native-born Italian with his understanding of the Italian legal system as an attorney, Marco realized he would be able to make a significant impact on people’s lives and help them to connect with Italy, the country his new friends were so passionate about.
Through his special passion for immigration matters Marco decided to make Italian citizenship a main focus of his legal practice and founded Italian Citizenship Assistance, a firm with offices in Los Angeles, New York and Italy with a team of attorneys, legal experts, genealogists, translators and other dual citizenship expert.
Marco is very much involved with the global Italian community especially those interested in Italian citizenship and does this through public speaking engagements such as workshops and community events, and television and radio appearances. Marco also publishes his video podcast The Italian Citizenship Podcast.
Since founding Italian Citizenship Assistance, Marco and his teams have helped those of Italian descent and those married to Italian citizens realize and attain their dreams of obtaining Italian Citizenship. The ICA team draws upon Marco’s expert knowledge of citizenship law to deal with “traditional” citizenship applications submitted in the US as well as with applications for citizenship presented in Italy and complex court cases.
He is very passionate about his mission and always keeps up to date on the latest changes in citizenship law. His dedication to helping others is a true inspiration for his team.
Marco now spends his time between Rovigo, Italy and Los Angeles, USA overseeing his teams and getting personally involved with most of the Italian citizenship cases handled by ICA. He is a member of the Italian Bar Association.
