Benefits of Italian CitizenshipItalian Citizenship Tips

What if holding an Italian passport didn’t just mean unlimited opportunities to enjoy the authentic beauty, poetry, and uniqueness of Italy?

What if getting your Italian Citizenship was advantageous for your business, education, or even for retirement?

Wherever your interests lead, now is the perfect time to apply for Italian Citizenship.

EDUCATION

When it comes to education be it literature, language, the arts, architecture or sports – you name it  – Italy has it all.

Italian universities offer top quality study plans with affordable tuition.

We are very proud of our brilliant, outstanding, creative professionals who studied in the best Italian universities (such as La Sapienza in Rome, Politecnico in Turin or Bocconi in Milan) who are now in high demand for opportunities abroad.

As EU citizens, your children are entitled to attend school in any EU country under the same conditions as the citizens of that country.

Even better, holding Italian citizenship qualifies you for reduced EU tuition rates if you wish to study in Europe, outside Italy.

The very famous “Erasmus” program is financed by the European Commission and it gives applicants the chance to study everywhere in the EU with sponsored scholarships.

European universities are famous for being inclusive, multicultural and very stimulating.

And speaking of sports, Italy is known for its worldwide famous soccer and rugby teams: if holding dual citizenship, your kids will be entitled to enroll as nationals in the major Italian or European teams!

EMPLOYMENT

If America loves Italy, well, Italy loves America.

Italian entrepreneurs are always on the hunt for foreign markets and business opportunities, and their best shot is hiring someone who knows how to deal with both sides of the ocean. Dual citizenship is what will really make your resume stand out when applying for a job.

On the other side of the desk, if you already run your own business and wish to expand it to Italy or even to Europe, there are lots of opportunities to develop new branches in a country in which you are already a citizen.

In addition to this, you may also want to consider that English speakers can ALWAYS find jobs teaching English as many Italians tend to lack of good, effective knowledge of this key language.

FREE MOVEMENT IN THE EU AND BUYING PROPERTIES IN ITALY

Do we really need to go through the perks of spending time in Italy or in the other EU countries, without the need of worrying about visas and residency restrictions?

Also if you hold dual citizenship, it is easier to complete all necessary purchasing requirements and transactions for buying a property in Italy.

As a citizen, you need only travel to the “Bel Paese” and spend the necessary amount of time to find, invest in and finalize the purchase of your dream house, without worrying about establishing residency in Italy, if that’s not what you’ll need at that specific time.

In fact, citizenship will allow you to purchase a property in Italy without any of the restrictions that would apply if you were to do the same transaction as a foreigner.  Additionally, dual citizens who are also residents in Italy enjoy tax discounts for their “first home”.

CITIZENSHIP MAY BE EXTENDED TO ALL YOUR FAMILY

Being recognized as an Italian Citizen by descent means you were an Italian Citizen from the day you were born. Hence, your children under 18 are also Italian citizens automatically.

What about future children? All you will need to do is simply hand their birth certificates to your local Italian Consulate in the US (with translation into Italian and related necessary application forms) and they will be granted Italian citizenship instantly!

Your wife or husband, too, will be entitled to apply for Italian citizenship after three years from your marriage, or after 1.5 years if you have kids.

If moving to Italy, even without kids, the waiting time will even be cut down to 2 years.

If in a same-sex civil union, you will be allowed to register your marriage in Italy, and your partner will be entitled to apply for citizenship by marriage under the same rules as above.

HEALTH CARE

It is well known that access to the Italian Public Healthcare system is granted as a right and free of charge to every citizen.  But as an EU citizen, you are also entitled to a European Health Insurance Card free of charge. This is a huge help in case of medical issues that occur while traveling in Europe, and it also covers Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.

ADDITIONAL CONSULAR PROTECTION

An old Italian TV commercial once claimed: “Two is meglio che one!” (two is better than one). That is utterly true when it comes to consular protection: dual citizens can benefit from the protection of both Italy and the second Country in which they hold citizenship.

You will find that some consulates are faster, more efficient and more convenient than others.  As a dual citizen, you can pick the one that best suits your needs. Two is indeed better than one!
