Italian Citizenship Assistance is happy to offer Italian language classes suited to individual needs. Whether you are looking to pass the B1 exam for Italian citizenship by naturalization or marriage, are looking to connect with your ancestral heritage, or would simply like to better integrate into daily life, we offer personalized courses structured to help you meet your goals.
Group courses

All of our courses, whether group or individual are structured to follow the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), with levels ranging from A1 (beginner) to C2 (advanced). Our group lessons organize students according to language level, ensuring everyone gets the proper instruction for their needs.
Private lessons

For a more individualized approach, you can choose to work with an instructor one-on-one. This offers adaptable and personalized lessons with plenty of individual feedback. Private lessons can cover any CEFR level and goals the student wants to meet (e.g. the B1 citizenship exam).

B1 Italian language exam for citizenship
If your goal is to the pass the B1 language exam for a citizenship application, our teachers are equipped to help you prepare. At the B1 level, the learner is “intermediate” and can hold basic, everyday conversations on topics that are familiar and of interest. There are three different types of official exams that are accepted for citizenship application: CELI and CILS (offered by the University for Foreigners of Siena, and the University for Foreigners of Perugia) and the PLIDA offered by the Dante Alighieri Society. Listening, reading, speaking, and writing are all tested. It is important to note that if one part of the exam fails, the applicant must retake the entire exam.

Immersive courses with native speakers
All of our lessons are taught by native speakers of Italian who are committed to an immersive, communicative approach to language learning. Italian will be the primarily language used in the classroom, even at the A1 level, facilitating an environment that is conducive to honing and shaping all four areas of language learning: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Our instructors are passionate about the Italian language and the culture and history that it has shaped and in turn, been shaped by. They don’t only want their students to be competent speakers of Italian but to feel truly a part of the new culture they are engaging with.
